Vietnam

in November 200, Bill Clinton is the first US president to visit Vietnam in since the end of the war there in 1975. The war led to the death of more than 1.5 million Vietnamese and 58,000 Americans. His four-day visit was an effort to transform the relationship with Vietnam from hostility to reconciliation and look ahead to Vietnam's future. President Bill Clinton said at a Veteran's Day ceremony shortly before the visit that “In our national memory Vietnam was a war, but Vietnam is also a country." Lieutenant General Khai Hung Nguyen also said that. "We welcome President Clinton because he was himself against the war,"
